The Sansa-Rimba is a bright, stimulating, and colorful teaching and music resource—an ideal addition to school playgrounds, care home gardens, or musical trails. This outdoor instrument cleverly combines two African instruments: the Sansa (thumb piano) and the marimba (xylophone). Using a diatonic scale and spanning two octaves (C4–C6), its 15 notes are arranged in the traditional thumb‑piano style, with the scale ascending from the center outward.
Built as standard with plain aluminum notes, the Sansa-Rimba can alternatively be supplied with GRP notes for a different visual appeal and acoustic character. When played, the aluminum produces a bright, clear tone, while GRP offers a fast, punchy sound. If you’re looking for a colorful variation, an alternative Rainbow Sansa Rimba model is available, featuring vibrant multicolored notes.
Each note is individually and securely attached to a high-density polyethylene backboard, which sits above black anodized aluminum resonators designed for maximum vibration, resonance, and durability. Every resonator is capped with a polyurethane rain baffle, and stainless steel security fixings help deter vandalism and prevent theft.
Designed for ground or surface installation, the Sansa-Rimba can also be wall-mounted if space is limited.
